Mount Harriet

Mount Harriet

Mount Harriet National Park, now renamed Mount Manipur National Park, is a beautiful and historically significant destination in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Located near Port Blair, it is the third-highest peak in the Andaman Islands and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding sea and islands. The park is known for its rich biodiversity, featuring rare species of birds, butterflies, and animals like the Andaman wild pig and saltwater crocodiles. Covered with lush tropical forests, it provides excellent trekking and nature trails, with a popular route leading to Madhuban. The park is also historically important, named after Harriet Tytler, the wife of British officer Robert Tytler, and famously associated with the view seen on the Indian ₹20 currency note, which depicts North Bay Island. Visitors can enjoy activities like trekking, birdwatching, photography, and camping. The park is accessible via a ferry ride from Chatham Jetty to Bambooflat, followed by a short road journey of about 50 minutes from Port Blair.
